DOG FOOD FEEDING GUIDE

Feeding Instructions1

Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets DRM Dermatologic Management Naturals canine formula provides complete and balanced nutrition for growth of puppies and maintenance of adult dogs including growth of large size dogs (70 lbs. or more as an adult).

The following feeding program is recommended as a guideline only, with discretionary clinical adjustments for proper weight maintenance.

Adult Maintenance

Body Weight (lb./kg) Approximate Number of 8-oz. Cups/Day3
5 lb. (2.3 kg) 2/3 c.
10 lb. (4.5 kg) 1 c.
20 lb. (9.1 kg) 1-1/2 c.
30 lb. (13.6 kg) 2 c.
40 lb. (18.2 kg) 2-1/2 c.
50 lb. (22.7 kg) 2-3/4 c.
60 lb. (27.3 kg) 3-1/4 c.
80 lb. (36.4 kg) 3-7/8 c.
1004 lb. (45.5 kg) 4-1/4 c.

1 Adjustments must be made for environmental conditions, activity level, body condition and breed size. As reflected in the feeding tables, smaller breed dogs can require 15% to 25% more kilocalories per pound of body weight than larger breed dogs.

2 Kilocalories of metabolizable energy (ME)

3 This daily amount should be divided into several small meals throughout the day.

4 For each additional 10 lbs of body weight, feed an additional 114 kilocalories.

Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container for your dog daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly.

Puppy Feeding Instructions

Feed your puppies all of the food they will consume, up to twice the amount of adult dogs, at intervals throughout the day. The food intake required to maintain ideal body condition may vary depending on age, activity and environment. Consequently, the amount of food required for each dog will vary and should be adjusted accordingly.
